Orientation And Networking

Orientation Receptions: Meet and mingle with other students and faculty in
your academic discipline. Leadership Alliance coordinators and alumni will provide an
overview of the program and offer tips on networking and funding your education.

Welcome Dinner and Alumni Career Panel: Several of our esteemed
alumni will share their personal experiences and perspectives on career opportunities for
PhDs.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Michael Lomax, President of UNCF, will deliver the keynote speech

Saturday, July 26
STUDENT RESEARCH PRESENTATIONS & GALA CELEBRATION

Student Research Presentations: Learn about the exciting research projects
that undergraduate participants have been working on during their summer internships
at Alliance research sites. Interactive poster sessions will be held in the morning, followed
by oral presentations throughout the remainder of the day.

Breakfast and Lunch Panels: Leadership Alliance alumni will provide their
perspectives on topics such as The Graduate School Experience, and offer career advice on
finding and obtaining a postdoctoral or faculty position.

Gala Event: Join us for the gala event to honor the first 100 Leadership Alliance alumni who
have earned a doctoral degree.

Sunday, July 27
CAREER PATHS & RECRUITING

Panel Discussions: Panelists will provide undergraduates with helpful information
regarding The Graduate School Application Process and graduate students with practical
tips on Completing Your Dissertation.

Recruiting Fair: You will have a unique opportunity to speak directly with
recruiters and representatives from graduate programs at Alliance institutions as well as
other public and private supporters. Learn about postdoctoral opportunities, funding
opportunities, and other resources for furthering your educational and career goals.
