Students interested in the AIRMS program must complete the enclosed application and send it with an official transcript(s), a personal statement describing their area of research interest, a current resumé and two letters of recommendation to the program director postmarked no later than December 1. All applicants who submit completed applications by the deadline will be notified of a decision by mid-February. The AIRMS selection committee will make every effort to assign accepted students and faculty to their preferred African institution upon the approval of the host school.

Faculty interested in the AIRMS must be committed and actively engaged in the fields of humanities or the social sciences and have teaching and/or research experience in some aspect of African studies. They must also complete the application and submit it with an essay describing their research interests and a current curriculum vitae to the program director postmarked no later than December 1.

After acceptance, students and faculty will receive travel information from the Alliance office, including departure dates and itineraries. Program participants will receive round-trip airfare (or an equivalent travel allowance), room and board. All participants will be required to complete a program evaluation and will be invited to present their research results through a written report.
