Medeva Ghee, PhD, Executive Director of the Leadership Alliance
Welcome to the Leadership Alliance. I am Dr. Medeva Ghee, the executive director.
The Leadership Alliance is a national consortium of more than 30 leading research and teaching colleges, universities, and private industry. We are united by a shared vision – to train, to mentor and to inspire, a diverse group of students from a wide range of cultural and academic backgrounds into competitive graduate training programs and professional research-based careers.
For more than two decades, the Leadership Alliance has been mentoring the next generation of leaders and role models who are now contributing to a diverse and scholarly workforce in academia, the public and the private sectors.
Learn about what our Doctoral Scholars are doing by visiting the Doctoral Scholar Network on our website. This database of top talent is a great resource for faculty looking for postdocs, for faculty search committees, as well as workforce recruiters.
The distinctive feature of the Leadership Alliance is its core activity – mentoring across the critical transitions along the entire academic pathway. The mentoring begins at the undergraduate level with the Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP), our flagship program. The SR-EIP introduces students to the world of research-based careers by providing hands-on research experiences in all academic disciplines – in the biological sciences, the physical sciences, math and engineering, the humanities and social sciences. These invaluable summer research experiences take place at the country’s top institutions.
The culminating event of the Summer Research program is the Leadership Alliance National Symposium, where ongoing professional development, mentoring and networking occurs among the Alliance family of undergraduates, graduate students, our doctoral scholars, faculty and administrators.
The Leadership Alliance also has a lot to offer faculty through ongoing collaborative initiatives. At our faculty retreats, our regional research conferences and the networking that occurs at the National Symposium, we are engaging a broader community of scholars to support our programs and our activities.
The steadfast commitment of the Leadership Alliance’s institutional leaders, coordinators and faculty members, along with the dedicated support of our federal funding agencies, industry and foundation partners, has contributed to the sustainability of this shared vision.
I invite you to explore our web site, and learn more about the Leadership Alliance’s vision to train, to mentor and to inspire a diverse and competitive 21st century workforce.
